A new Ctenodrilid (Polychaeta, Drilomorpha), Aphropharynx heterochaeta nov. gen. nov. spec, is described. It belongs to the subfamily Ctenodrilinae and has the following features: three different types of bristles, absence of a ventral ciliary area on the peristomium, presence of a heavily vacuolized tissue within the pharyngeal bulb, beginning of the mid-gut between the segments 5 and 6, and a first fission zone after segment 6. The original habitat of Aphropharynx heterochaeta is unknown.
