Vertical movement of an Eudiaptomus gracilis population was studies on 9 and 10 August, 1977 in samples taken at 3-hr intervals from 4 layers of water in Lake Balaton. The results are as follows: 1. the nauplius larvae showed a " reversed'^vertical movement, during daytime they were found near the surface of the water, at night they moved to deeper layers. 2. some of the copopodite larvae and adults moved towards the surface at night, others moved in the opposite direction. 3. of the copepodite larvae the 3rd and 4th stages moved in a direction similar to that of the adults, movement of the 2nd and 3rd stages was somewhat different. There was some difference between the movement of females with and without eggs.
