Diagnosis Tiaropsidae medusa with two kinds of tentacles, 4 or more (up to 16) simple radial canals; mouth with 4 lips; 8 or 16 (rarely 48) compound sense organs.
Hydroid colony of 'Cuspidella' type; operculum formed by several flaps sharply demarcated from hydrothecal margin by a crease line; gonotheca ellipsoid, without operculum.
