Taxonomy Grajales & Rodríguez (2014) synonymized several species under the epithet Exaiptasia pallida. They had earlier petitioned (Grajales & Rodriguez 2013) for the younger species epithet pallida to have priority over the older names diaphana and tagetes. The ICZN rejected this petition. Thus, if these are synonyms, as Grajales & Rodriguez (2014) contend, then the appropriate name is Exaiptasia diaphana [details]
