Etymology ''The trivial name johnstoni is in remembrance of Dr. George Johnston of Berwick upon Tweed (1792-1855), who helped lay the foundations for the study of marine biology on the coast of northeast England.'' (Garwood & Bamber, 1988: 123). [details]
Habitat Intertidal fine sand with less than 4% silt. [details]
Type locality Hadston Carrs, at the northern end of Druridge Bay, Northumberland, NE England, UK, North Sea (55º18'N, 01º35'W; provided geocoordinates slightly displaced, corrected here with gazetteer to 55.293º, -01.566º), intertidal, in fine sand with less than 4% silt. [details]
