Status Jirkov (2020: 338) records Mediterranean specimens, and accepts Amphitrite rubra as an Amphitrite, and comments on the earlier assessment of Hutchings & Glasby (1988: 4; 1995) that the paratype they examined was not an Amphitrite, but probably belonged to Longicarpus. The paratype can no longer be found according to Jirkov. [details]
Synonymy Jirkov (2020: 340) confirms that the synonyms of A. rubra likely include Terebella multisetosa Grube, 1838, Terebella spiralis Grube, 1860, and Terebella compacta Grube, 1863. He doubts that Amphitrite incana Claparède, 1870 is a synonym. [details]
