Identification Schmidt's description of this species is rather confusing. He maintained that the previously (1862) reported species Halichondria digitata (now accepted as Tedania (Tedania) anhelans (Olivi, 1792) consisted of a mixture of two species Reniera inflata and Reniera muggiana, partially sharing apparently the spicules. R. muggiana is now accepted as conspecific with T.(T.) anhelans, but the material of the present species awaits redescription. [details]
