Diagnosis Corallum colonial, either dendroid or subphaceloid achieved by equal intracalicular budding; coenosteum granular with C1 sometimes present; pali absent; columella inconspicuous; tabular endothecal dissepiments present. [details]

Remark Monotypic. This is one of a dozen cosmopolitan Recent species, and also one of the deep-water framework building corals, forming deep reefs in the North Atlantic. [details]
