Thirteen species of the class Demospongia from the vicinity of the Aitsu Marine Biological
Station of Kumamoto University are reported in this paper. The species are shown in Table 1. Of those species, four are newly recorded from Japanese waters. Furthermore other four species are new from the vicinity of Amakusa—Matsushima. For each species, external and skeletal morphology, spiculation and so forth are briefly described.
