Synonymy Many authors (e.g. Winckworth, 1932; Streseman, 1970; Thompson & Brown, 1976; McKay & Smith, 1979; Seaward, 1982) prefer the junior synonym Polycera cristata Alder, 1841. However Pruvot-Fol (1954) declared the senior Tritonia gibbosa Risso, 1818 as valid (see also e.g. Abbott, 1974; Bouchet & Tardy, 1976; Cattaneo & Barletta, 1984). Until now, Pruvot-Fol (1954) is followed. [details]
