Taxonomy This class and the Chaetothyriomycetes correspond to Loculoascomycetes in some earlier classifications and is often referred to as "bitunicate ascomycetes". The bootstrap support for this class is low in phylogenetic analyses of SSU rDNA data. Three orders are recognized now. The position of many families and genera of the class is uncertain, as molecular information is missing. Some families will probably have to be transferred to the Chaetothyriomycetes when more molecular data are available. [details]
