Grammatical gender According to ICZN Art. 30.1.1.4 genus names ending in -ites are of masculine gender, unless the original author states otherwise, Schmidt (1879) did not discuss the gender of Aciculites and the type species is formed from a personal name leaving no clue of the originally intended gender. This means that the gender is to be masculine and several original species have to be renamed under ICZN Art.32.5. [details]
