Description Colonies more or less irregular-spherical, usually composed of small groups of cells grouped together (subcolonis), embedded in wide, fine, homogeneous, colourless, diffluent gelatinous envelopes, sometimes joined together; in old stages the subcolonies disintegrate into homogeneous and amorphous mass of cells, in which sometimes remain small groups of aggregated cells. Cells spherical, 2-3.2 μm in diameter. Known toxic strains. [details]
