Taxonomy The naming of this taxon is unsettled, a few authors prefer Leptolinae, others Hydroidomedusae. Although Leptolinae is the older name, the the priority not apply to the level above the family category and prevailing usage should be preferred. Moreover, Leptolinae can be confounded with the unaccepted taxon Leptolida (polyphyletic assemblage). [details]
