Editor's comment In the original database data entry for aphia 334692 Fauchald recorded the authority of Pterolysippe vanelli as "(Fauvel, 1936) sensu Eliason, 1955, emend", exactly based on the wording in the usage in Jirkov (2001). However, the latter part is indicative of the usage and not part of the authority. Lysippe vanelli Fauvel itself cannot be assigned to a 'sensu Eliason' name, rather a 'sensu Eliason' usage would be indicative of an unnamed taxon and would need to be assigned to a new name, not a new combination of 'vanelli' as in Jirkov (2001). Separation of perhaps confused concepts is possible but appears unlikely to be necessary at present. Later authors did not continue a 'sensu Eliason' annotation of the authority. Note that Day (1973) had already claimed to be renaming Eclysippe vanelli sensu Eliason (1955) as Samythella eliasoni, but his taxon was based on a specimen from off Beaufort, North Carolina [G. Read, December 2015] [details]Unreviewed
