Biology Type of larval development: direct (non planktotrophic) denoted by paucispiral protoconch. [details]
Diagnosis Shell 1.5 to 2.0 mm high, with protoconch of a little more than 1.25 whorls, and teleoconch of 3.25 to 3.75 whorls. Protoconch with spirally oriented wrinkles; teleoconch with spire whorls angulated, with strong axial folds each bearing a distinct projection at the angle. Body whorl rounded abapically with three to four hardly distinct spiral cords on the periumbilical area. Teleoconch with characteristic “Porosalvania” microsculpture consisting of minute (ca. 1 µm) pits randomly distributed, visible only under high magnification of scanning electron microscope.
Outer lip thickened externally, mostly in the adapical part at a short distance from the edge; smooth inside. Shell white
This small species is distinguished from the sympatric P. solidula Gofas, 2007 by being smaller, stouter, with a marked angle on the axial folds, and in having a wrinkled protoconch whereas all the other species of Porosalvania have a smooth one. [details]
