A new description is given of Protodrilus chaetifer, compared here with P. symbioticus on the basis of their morphology. The numerous epidermic gland cells, arranged in longitudinal glandular bands, are described for P. chaetifer. The characteristic internal structure of P. chaetifer and P. symbioticus, as well as their atypical spermatogenesis, isolate these two species from the genus Protodrilus and justify the establishment for both of them of the new genus Protodriloides.
