Samples of Polychaeta taken by the 'Meteor' 5 Expedition between 100-2500 m depth added to the base-line data on the fauna of the continental shelf and slope off the Mediterranean coast of Israel. The present paper deals with the soft-substrate material from 5 samples ranging between 100-700 m depth, which comprised 46 taxa, of which 41 were identified to species: 10 Errantia families with 14 species and 13 Sedentaria families (excluding Serpulidae), with 27 species. Samples below 700 m contained only serpulid tubeworms, which will be published separately. There were 11 new records for the Levant basin (Egypt, Sinai, Israel, Lebanon, Cyprus, and southern coast of Turkey). From 100 m depth, 6 new records of genera and species, and 4 new records of species. From 700 rn, 1 new record of a genus and species. The present findings are evaluated with respect to previous data from the Israeli coast.
