Classification as subfamily in Sabellidae, for Lamellisabella, with subfamily name spelled "Lamellisabellidae" (should have been Lamellisabellinae). - Lamellisabella n. g. zachsi n. sp. aufzustellen vorschlage" [The absence of an inverse setarum, the peculiar tail attachment, the horseshoe-shaped formations and platelets instead of the bristles give our form a degenerate, aberrant character and assign it a separate position in the system, so that I have a new subfamily to propose - Lamellisabellidae nov. subfam. - Lamellisabella n. g. zachsi n. sp." It is significant that Hartman (1951: 379) supported the linking of Lamellisabella Uschakov to Sabellidae, although Johansson (1937) had by then proposed to create (phylum) Pogonophora for the genus, and for some time Pogonophora were missclassified outside of Annelida, and had high-level ranks to subdivide different morphologies before being returned to within Annelida, demoted in rank to Siboglinidae.
