Neotype According to Prof. P. Omodeo in Padova, Italy, who was a student of Pierantoni, there is no material left from the activities of the latter in Stazione Zoologica di Napoli; the institute was badly damaged during World War II. Brinkhurst (1966) also failed to trace museum material of any of the species described by Pierantoni from Naples. Erséus (1982), therefore, concluded that the type series of Limnodriloides appendiculatus is lost and assigned a neotype. [details]
