Distribution A very common and widespread species in lower intertidal habitats of the Mediterranean, in well-sorted, medium-to-coarse sand. [details]
Distribution The distribution records are for the entire species complex (see Casu & Curini-Galletti, 2006), so those of P. ophiocephala s.s., P. caputanguis, P. caputdraconis and P. caputserpentis. Which distribution records are from the latter three species can be found under the entries of those three cryptic species. [details]
Extinction Populations of Calvi could be extinct (see Casu & Curini-Galletti, 2006: p. 575). [details]
