Taxonomy In the original description, Dugès only included Nemertini, but later authors (Schmidt, Claparède, Oersted, Metschnikoff, Mereschkofsky, Hallez, Leydi,….) included several species of (rhabdocoel) turbellarians. [details]
Taxonomy Graff (1882) restricts the name Prostoma to Nemertini, and distributes the species of Prostoma described before 1882 to the genera Pseudorhynchus (now Astrororhynchus), Acrorhynchus (now Acrorhynchides), Macrorhynchus (incl. the recent genera Macrorhynchus, Polycystis, Progyrator, Phonorhynchus), Gyratrix and Plagiostomum. Since then, the name has never been used anymore in descriptions of turbellaria.
