Taxonomy Most of the signalizations of P. mamillaris until Morrow & Boury-Esnault 2000 are in fact Polymastia penicillus. Both species have been put erronously in synonymy by Johnston 1842. For example in Boury-Esnault 1987 the species described IS Polymastia penicillus and not P. mamillaris; the same in Boury-Esnault, 1974 & 1976 [details]
