Description The threads are 1.25-2.25, mostly 1.5-2 µm wide and the terminal cell is rounded. The cells are very long 6—16 (usually 8—14) µm, they are three to seven times as long as wide. The threads are very little constricted on the transverse walls and there is a large, very irregular pseudovacuole on each side, which appears dark red even at relatively low magnification. Occasionally there are small, round pseudovacuoles at other points in the cells. The protoplasm is light blue-green. There was never a trace of a sheath.  [details]
