From editor or global species database
Nomenclature Based on strict priority, Huber (2010) restored the name Mytilus zonarius as a senior synonym of M. californianus. However, the name californianus had been universally used as the valid name, whereas there are only a handful of references that use the name zonarius based on Huber's authority. For stability, the name californianus should be conserved, either through application of ICZN Art. 23.9 or through petition to the ICZN. [details]
