Taxonomy Validity of this record difficult to evaluate. G. pungitii is a relatively euryhaline parasite of Pungitius pungitius well known from low salinity areas. Kulachkova records it from Bay of the Dvina in the White Sea, from Clupea harengus pallasii. Habitat has 'greatly reduced salinity'. I am inclined to believe record. P.H. [details]
