The axis trends N-NE - S-SW, at right angles to the regional slope and adjacent coast. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Bay of Plenty' in 1973. Minimum depth (m): 1500. Maximum depth (m): 2200. Total relief (m): 700. Dimension/size: 65 km x 15 km. |
