Additional information (en): This feature that extends down the continental slope, is located from 40 km to 120 km offshore from the NE coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The axis trends N-NE - S-SW, at right angles to the regional slope and adjacent coast. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Bay of Plenty' in 1973. Minimum depth (m): 1500. Maximum depth (m): 2200. Total relief (m): 700. Dimension/size: 65 km x 15 km.
