GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named after Lieutenant W. R. Broughton, commander of HMS "Chatham", who named the Chatham Islands in 1791.    
Additional information (en): This feature forms a narrow break at the E extreme of Chatham Rise, approximately 400 km NE of Chatham Islands. The name first appeared on Oceanic Bathymetry Series (OBS) chart 'Chatham' in 1969.Minimum depth (m): 1750. Maximum depth (m): 2200. Total relief (m): 450.
