Additional information (en): This is the most northern feature in a series of canyons in the area. It is a 5 km wide, 500-800 m incised flat-bottomed canyon running across the continental shelf and slope offshore from the W coast of the South Island of New Zealand. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Jackson' in 1981. Minimum depth (m): 150. Maximum depth (m): 1500. Total relief (m): 1350. Dimension: 50 km.
