GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named in association with the Papamoa settlement on the adjacent New Zealand mainland. Lit. "papa": flat, "moa": raised mounds for growing vegetables.    
Additional information (en): This is a small feature in the outer Bay of Plenty region, offshore from the E coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The name first appeared on NZ Coastal Bathymetry Series (CBS) chart 'Bay of Plenty' in 1989. Minimum depth (m): 850. Maximum depth (m): 1200. Total relief (m): 350. Dimension: 3 km x 3 km.
