GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): History: Named in association with the nearby Bounty Islands (New Zealand), which Lieutenant William Bligh discovered in 1788 on board the HMS "Bounty".    
Additional information (en): This feature extends W from Bounty Islands to Pukaki Sea Channel on Bounty Plateau. The name first appeared on Oceanic Bathymetry Series (OBS) chart 'Bounty' in 1970. Minimum depth (m): 800. Maximum depth (m): 1000. Total relief (m): 200. Dimension: 140 km x 50 km.
