GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese novelist Bakin Takizawa (1767-1848), also known as Kyokutei, during the Edo period of Japan. He is regarded as one of the leading novelists in Japanese literature during that period. Bakin is the first name as, at that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. This feature is part of the Great Writers Seamount Province. |
