GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Lisiguanghao". Year of discovery: 2012. History: Named from the nearby active "Daxi Hydrothermal Field", found in 2015. The term "Daxi", which means some kind of millet for sacrifice in ancient China, comes from a poem known as Xuanniao in Shijing·Shangsong. Shijing is a collection of ancient Chinese Poems from the 11th to 6th centuries BC: "Ten wagons with his dragon flags, carried great store of grains in bags". |
