Notes |
GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the author of novels and romantic poetry Doppo Kunikida (1871-1908), during the Meiji period of Japan. He is regarded as one of the inventors of Japanese naturalism. Doppo is the first name as, at that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. This feature is associated with the nearby Great Writers Seamount Province. |
