GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese novelist Ikku Jippensha (1765-1831), during the Edo period of Japan. Ikku is the first name as, at that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. This feature is part of the Great Writers Seamount Province. |
