Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Haiyang Erhao". Year of discovery: 1980. History: Named from its shape, as Jianfeng is the Chinese for "sharp peak". This feature was named as such by the Chinese Government in 1986 as the bathymetric data available at that time showed that the feature top was sharp.
