GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese poet Kyoshi Takahama (1874-1959), during the Meiji to Showa periods of Japan. Kyoshi is the first name as, at that time, it was common and popular for Japanese writers to be called by their first names. This feature is associated with the nearby Great Writers Seamount Province. |
