GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese brothers, writer and novelist, Soho Tokutomi (1859-1935) and Roka Tokutomi (1868-1927), during the Meiji to Showa periods of Japan. Soho Tokutomi was a journalist, critic, and historian, and a best-selling author, known for his writings on a variety of social and political subjects. He completed the 100-volume "Kinsei Nihon kokumin shi" (A History of Early Modern Japan). Roka Tokutomi was a novelist. This feature is associated with the nearby Great Writers Seamount Province. |
