Notes GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Japanese survey vessel "Takuyo". Year of discovery: 1997. History: Named after the Japanese brothers, writer and novelist, Soho Tokutomi (1859-1935) and Roka Tokutomi (1868-1927), during the Meiji to Showa periods of Japan. Soho Tokutomi was a journalist, critic, and historian, and a best-selling author, known for his writings on a variety of social and political subjects. He completed the 100-volume "Kinsei Nihon kokumin shi" (A History of Early Modern Japan). Roka Tokutomi was a novelist. This feature is associated with the nearby Great Writers Seamount Province.

Additional information (en): This feature has an irregular shape and a steepness of 7 %. The single position is that of the summit. Most of the Japanese writers relevant to the Great Writers Seamount Province were active in late 1800's to early 1900's. Minimum depth (m): 4522. Maximum depth (m): 5786. Total relief (m): 1264. Dimension: 35 km × 15 km
