GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Haiyang Sihao". Year of discovery: 2005. History: Named after Yixing (683-727 AD), a Chinese Buddhist scholar and astronomer during the Tang Dynasty. He translated a variety of Indian Buddhist scriptures and became the leader of Buddhism Tantric. He also steered the writing of "Da Yan calendar", a significant astronomical book of ancient China, while contributing to both the manufacture of astronomical instruments and the observation of astronomical phenomena. |
