Notes Additional information (en): This feature has been mentioned in many scientific papers, publications and studies on the Brazilian continental margin, such as the REMAC Project: Geomorphology of the Brazilian Continental Margin and adjacent oceanic areas (1979). Minimum depth (m): 159. Maximum depth (m): 1853. Total relief (m): 1694. Dimension/size: ~ 35 km long and 5 to 9.5 km wide.

GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: U.S. research vessel "Robert D. Conrad". Year of discovery: 1973. History: Named from the city of Itapemirim, in the Espirito Santo State, Southeast of Brazil, located at the mouth of Itapemirim River. Itapemirim is a Tupi-guarani - one of the most important South America indigenous languages - word that means ‘’small rock’’.
