GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Philippines survey vessel "Hydrographer Presbitero". Year of discovery: 2002. History: Named from the Philippines city of Bauang. It is one of the municipalities that originally formed the province of La Union in 1850. Bauang was known for the San Pedro bell, a 400-year old bell which was taken by the American soldiers during the Philippine–American War in 1900. The bell was returned to its parish church in 2016. |
