History: “Gaúcho” is the name given to people related to livestock activity in natural fields of countries situated in the southern regions of South America, like Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay. The peculiar characteristics of their pastoral way of life have forged their own culture, derived from the union of Iberian and indigenous culture adapted to the field work. In Brazil, the term "Gaúcho" specifically refers to the people from the nearby Rio Grande do Sul State. |
