GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Haiyang Sihao". Year of discovery: 2005. History: "Lan Gong" means "magnificent building and splendid palaces" in Chinese and is taken from the poetic lines “Gui Dian Lan Gong, Ji Gang Luan Zhi Ti Shi”. These lines belong to the poem book "A Tribute to King Teng's Tower", by Wang Bo, a famous poet during the Tang Dynasty (618-907).
