GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Chinese research vessel "Haiyang Sihao". Year of discovery: 2005. History: "Zi Dian" means literally "purple lightening" in Chinese, referring to a sharp sword and is taken from the poetic lines “Zi Dian Qing Shuang, Wang Jiang Jun Zhi Wu Ku”. These lines belong to the poem book "A Tribute to King Teng's Tower", from the famous poet Wang Bo during the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD).
