History: Named from the Apin (Ternstroemia gitingensis Elmer), a tree species found in the Philippines. It is an evergreen tree up to 30-35 m tall. Its wood is used for light construction under cover, internal flooring, doors, window frames, moldings, etc. It is also suitable for the production of veneer and plywood, and of pulp and paper. |
