GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Philippines survey vessel "Hydrographer Presbitero". Year of discovery: 2010. History: Named from the Hauili (Ficus septica), a tree species endemic to the Philippines. It is a shrub or small tree which can grow from 3-25 meters tall and it occurs in low and medium altitudes.. It has hairy shoot, and shiny, oval leaves. Hauili is known for its medicinal uses and is favored as pioneer species to be used in forest restoration. |
