GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: New Zealand research vessel "Arrow". Year of discovery: 1984. History: Named in geomorphological association with Southwest Challenger Bank, the hills being on top of the bank. Also, both features are near the southwest edge of Challenger Plateau, which was named after the HMS "Challenger" that was used to take soundings and samples of the seabed on the plateau in 1874. |
