History: Named from the Tambis (syzygium aquem), a fruit-bearing tree native to the Philippines and Southeast Asia. Its wood is hard and can be used in making tools. Its fruits, when ripe, turn red and are bell-shaped or heart-shaped. They can be eaten raw or used in making juices and jam. |
