History: Named after “Alunsina”, a prominent deity revered as the goddess of the eastern skies in the Panay pantheon. Her divine presence was believed to usher in the sun's radiance and refreshing breezes during the dry season's scorching days. She was also venerated for safeguarding against powerful typhoons and was linked to concepts of elegance, matrimony, and femininity. "Alunsina" was regarded as the patron deity of single women, maidens, romantics, homemakers, and newlyweds. |
