GEBCO: discoverer and year of discovery (en): Discoverer: Philippines survey vessel "Hydrographer Presbitero". Year of discovery: 2006. History: Named from the Lalanug (Medinilla Stenobotrys Merr), an epiphytic glabrous shrub and a species of flowering plant in the Melastomataceae family. It is critically endangered and endemic to the Philippines, and is found in tropical moist forests. It is a small tree that grows up to 5 m tall. It has large, bright pink flowers that are bell-shaped and have five petals. |
